February Meeting Canceled

We have been notified by the folks at Jeffco Fairgrounds that the Green Mountain Conference Rm. is unavailable for our meeting for this Wednesday, February 7th.   Additionally, their Exhibit Hall areas are being re-roofed, so they cannot move us into those.  We have been unable to procure alternative meeting space, so the February General Membership meeting is canceled:-(

We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

Our meeting on Wednesday, March 7th will be held as usual.  Our tentative speaker topic will cover Brand Inspections – what you need to know.

General Meeting on January 3rd is LRC Movie Night

Please join us for a viewing of one of the top horse movies of all time:

Called “a flat-out great movie,” by Larry King.

Seabiscuit is a 2003 equestrian sports film directed by Gary Ross and based on the best-selling non-fiction book Seabiscuit:  An American Legend by Laura Hillenbrand.  The film is loosely based on the life and racing career of Seabiscuit, an undersized and overlooked Thoroughbred race horse, whose unexpected successes made him a hugely popular media sensation in the United States during the Great Depression. Seabiscuit was nominated for seven Academy Awards.  This movie stars Toby Maguire, Jeff Bridges and Chris Cooper.

Plan on arriving at 6:30 PM and the movie will start at 6:45 PM.   Plenty of Buttered popcorn and Kettle corn will be provided and also ice water. Please feel free to bring a drink of your choice and your own comfortable, camp chair, lounger, or even a bean bag or blanket, so you can kick back and relax (i.e. not squirm on one of the conference room’s folding chairs;-)

There will be no General Membership Meeting in December

Ms. Claus, riding with elegance.

There will be no General Membership Meeting in December, instead we will gather for an evening of good food and company.

Reminder to members to be sure and check your email account for your Christmas Party invite.  All the details are there including map to our venue.

And for those who would like to participate in a gift exchange, please bring a wrapped/bagged gift in the $15 range.

November 1st is our next meeting.

Reminder to all that our next meeting will be at our new starting time of 7:00 PM.

Kristy Taylor will present our speaker topic for November’s Membership meeting.  Kristy has an extensive background in dressage and currently is showing at the national level with several of her miniature horses.

Topic:  Collection. What is it exactly? How do I convince my horse to give it a try?

Join Kristy for a interactive classroom presentation on collection through harmony between a horse and rider. You will work on proper body alignment, balance, half halts, contact and more to invite your horse to willingly step into collection. This will be a fun interactive presentation – dress in loose clothing so we may prance and dance around the classroom experimenting with our soft and quiet aids. From beginners to more advanced riders there will be something for everyone!

Note this is classroom only – no horses.

Don’t forget meetings are open to anyone interested in the club, or those just wanting to hear a good speaker.  If you have a friend or acquaintance that enjoys horses, invite them to attend.

October 4th General Membership Meeting – New Time!

Our regular monthly meeting coming up on Wednesday,
October 4th, 2017 will be starting at 7:00 p.m

This time change is in response to many members’ requests to push the time back to allow more time before the meeting to accommodate after work dinner and stable chores.

Our Speaker for the evening is member Michele Mortensen and her topic will be Equine Therapy.  She will be following up on our September clinic where members were able to participate in a sample equine therapy exercise.  She will talk to us about the various kinds of Equine Therapy; how they are applied for different groups, and how they are experienced/performed by participants.
