Two Clinics, Sun., Aug. 16, 2015

  •  Joe Johnson from Freedom Carriages will be presenting an “Introduction to Driving Your Horse” clinic this Sunday, August 16, 2015, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

Joe will have several harness styles on hand and will not only explain their pros and cons, he will demonstrate how to take this harness pile of “straps” and make sense of applying it to a horse. Additionally, there will be some different vehicles that he will use to show what to look for in a carriage and how they function for different types of driving interests. Finally, you will get to see and experience how a vehicle is “put to” a horse, as he demonstrates actual harnessing and driving. You will have a chance to experience a ride in a vehicle and receive some basic driving instruction.

  • Amanda Speaker of Phantom Dragon Ranch will be presenting an “Introduction to Sidesaddle Riding” clinic, also this Sunday, from 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM.

Add another dimension to your horsemanship by learning to ride sidesaddle. Bring your horse for the afternoon and learn how to train your horse to accept a sidesaddle rider in a safe and secure environment. Acquire balance and posture skills necessary for a safe seat riding sidesaddle that will also improve you’re astride riding seat. We will cover saddle styles & fit. As an added bonus we will cover historic and modern aside riding clothes (habits), footwear, undergarments, hairstyles and etiquette of the historic and modern aside rider.

Plan on bringing a sack lunch to eat between clinics.

Self Defense for Trail Riders Clinic

Event Center Clinic

Sunday, May 17th is the date for the “Self Defense for Trail Riders Clinic.”  It will be held at the Event Center at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
The clinic will start at 10am.

Our clinician is Mary Miklos.  She will be teaching us how to protect and defend ourselves while trail riding.  You will learn self defense and how to use your horse to keep the bad guys away from you.

We will go from 10am to about 12pm and then stop for lunch (please bring a lunch with you).  After the defense clinic, Mary will be available to help you if you are having training or riding problems with your horse.  We will go until about 3pm or until everyone is comfortable with the lesson.

See you all Sunday.  It will be fun!
