About our Club

Lakewood Riding Club is a non-profit organization providing many activities and event opportunities for its membership.

Founded in 1940, Lakewood Riding Club celebrates over 75 years of promoting horsemanship, fellowship and equestrian education and recreation for area horse owners.  You do not have to live in the City of Lakewood to join.  We have many members that live in the foothills, Golden, Littleton, and Parker.

The Lakewood Riding Club members represent a diverse spread of equine disciplines – from trail riders to dressage competitors; from driving miniature horses to driving drafts; from parade participants to equestrian exhibitions; and from horse campers to horse soccer players.  We are not breed specific and our members own horses of many types and breeds.

Our monthly meetings usually feature a guest speaker that discuss topics such as:

  • Horse Care
  • Training Tips
  • Riding Techniques
  • Nutrition
  • First Aid

Additionally, we host 2-3 Clinics at the Jefferson County Event Center’s indoor arena, and these usually tie into the current month’s guest speaker’s topic.  We hold an annual De-Spook Clinic for members and their horses and upon completion those present are certified for participation in our Parade Team at local parades.

We welcome non-members to any of our meetings or activities.
